The Kano State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) has elected new executives who will lead the institute for one year.
During the election, which held at the Murtala Muhammad Library in Kano, Dr Binta Usman emerged as chairman, Dr Ibrahim Abba as vice-chairman, Aliyu A. Sale as general secretary and Nasir Umar Zubair as assistant secretary-general, among others.
Speaking to Kano/Jigawa Chronicle on behalf of the chairman, the secretary-general of the institute said their main objective was to promote the advancement of engineering education, research and practices in Kano and Nigeria in general.
He said part of their activities was to engage students from primary to tertiary institutions to know about electrical engineering, as well as boost their knowledge so that they could become engineers.
