Barely one month after Daily Trust’s report on how private hospitals exploit patients that are not on the NHIS scheme, the body has called on healthcare providers to respect the rights and privileges of enrollees with a view to improving the health status of Nigerians.
The General Manager/Zonal Coordinator, North Central B Zone NHIS, Mrs Monica Saror, made the call at a stakeholders’ forum in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

She explained that the aim of establishing the scheme was to ensure that every Nigerian has access to good health care service which validates the need to respect their right to accessing quality health care service.
“The global drive is for all people to have access to the needed key promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services of good quality at an affordable cost,” she said.
Earlier, Dr Gaza Gwamna, the Executive Secretary, Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency ( NASHIA) appealed to Nigerians to key into the scheme.
