The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has enrolled 1,000 members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) into its Group, Individual and Family Social Health Insurance Programme (GIFSHIP).
The president of the NBA, Olumide Akpata presented a cheque of N15million to the NHIS as payment for the GIFSHIP coverage for the lawyers Friday in Abuja.
Speaking during the exercise, the executive secretary of the NHIS, Prof Mohammed Sambo, said it was significant because it was part of the drive towards attaining the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the country.
According to him, it is a programme for self-employed persons, families, groups, associations, philanthropist and even people in the Diaspora to join the NHIS.
