The Chairman and Founder of the organization, Dr. Daniel Okwoche explained that the marathon was aimed at discovering talented athletes from various schools across the state in a bid to promote sporting activities.
Okwoche who is a medical practitioner at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital also explained his decision to organise the race.
“It is all about secondary school children precisely. We want to catch them young. Most of them have the ability to run but were not given the opportunity.
“So the foundation decided to create the avenue by using the World AIDS Day as a platform to bring them together. Winners from different schools were presented with cash prizes.
“We presented cash prizes of N30,000, N20,000 and N15,000 to first, second and third placed athletes in the male and female categories,” he disclosed.
