In commemoration of African Vaccination Week, a non-governmental organization, Women Advocates for Vaccine Access (WAVA), has organized creative arts and writing competition for secondary school students in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT).
The programme under the theme, “Value of Vaccines and Immunization Financing,” was held in Abuja yesterday.
Speaking, the Nigeria Country Director, International Vaccine Access Centre (IVAC), Dr. Chizoba Wonodi, said the gesture was to increase the number of voices that talked about the value of immunization and vaccine.
“This year in supporting what global community and Nigeria are doing we need to get more young people to speak out for vaccine and immunization,” he said.
Dr. Wonodi who was represented by Dr Shola Molemodile said they were trying to sensitize younger people to get more involved in the advocacy process.
He said the gesture would enhance students’ creativity in supporting advocacy programme and sensitize them on the value of vaccines.
He said the more young people speak out their need for immunization and vaccine, the more its strong way to send out the massage on how important to immunize children.
