NGO organises medical outreach for women in FCT

Over 100 women in Kubwa, an Abuja satellite town, have undergone free HIV test and given free Hepatitis vaccination.

The Executive Director, Genius Skills Empowerment Initiative, Shade Abioye, while speaking at the outreach on Friday in Kubwa, said the programme was part of their annual activities to bring women together, give them free medical test as well as relief materials as part of celebrating Christmas.

“We are reaching out to about a hundred women from across the FCT. We have women from Dei-Dei, Saburi, Mopol Barracks and Kubwa here today. They have done their HIV test, had first dose Hepatitis vaccination and we have paid for them to come for the second and third doses. We have also given them clothing, foodstuffs and other items to help them celebrate the Christmas and New Year,” she said.

The PRO of the Initiative, Grace Tony Achi, said there was need for the women to undergo the tests as they need to be healthy to be able to carry out their businesses.

One of the beneficiaries, Adejoh Victoria, said they benefitted so much from the outreach.
