A Non-Governmental Organisation, Mercy Corps Nigeria, has disbursed N82.4 million to 262 smallholder farmers in Gombe and Yobe states as part of its “Feed the Future Nigeria: Rural Resilience Activity” project to boost food security.
The programme, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is in response to the rising food insecurity due to high cost of agro inputs and high prices of food.

Speaking at the disbursing ceremony in Gombe, acting Country Director of Mercy Corps Nigeria, Mrs Adesola Osuji, said the organisation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sterling Bank in order to increase access to finance and provide capital for smallholder farming households.
