NFF Gen Sec, Sanusi gets FIFA appointment

The General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation, Dr Mohammed Sanusi has been appointed by world football governing body, FIFA as the match commissioner for next month’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 African qualifying tie between Ghana and Zimbabwe in Cape Coast, Ghana.

The Black Stars and the Warriors will take to the pitch of Cape Coast Stadium on 9th October.

Sanusi, who was also match commissioner when Egypt pipped Angola 1-0 in Cairo in one of the Day 1 encounter earlier this month, will work with Gabonese referee Pierre Ghislain Atcho and his compatriots Boris Marlaise Ditsoga (assistant referee 1), Montel Moussounda (assistant referee 2) and Eric Otogo Castane (fourth official).

The referee assessor is Guinean Aboubacar Doumbouya while Dr Christiana Baah of Ghana will serve as medical officer.

Nigeria Day 3 encounter is at home to the Central African Republic on 7th October, with the return leg scheduled for Douala four days later.

The Super Eagles boast a perfect record in the race to Qatar 2022 having defeated Liberia 2-0 in Lagos and edged Cape Verde 2-1 in Mindelo earlier in the month to perch atop Group C with the maximum six points from two matches, three ahead of second-placed Liberia.
