The Nigeria Police Force on Monday took over the headquarters of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) popularly called ‘Glass House’ as a result of the crisis presently rocking the body.
The security operatives sealed off the secretariat barring non-staff of the NFF from accessing the complex which also houses the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC.
Our reporter who has been at the NFF headquarters since morning reported that three vehicles conveyed officers and men of the Force to the venue with one parked just at the entrance of the complex.
The other two cars (saloon cars) carrying armed policemen were parked adjacent the NFF complex.
The Federal High Court last Friday in Jos, evicted the Amaju Pinnick administration after annulling the Warri Congress of September 30, 2014 that brought him into power.
Consequently, Chris Giwa’s faction declared it will start work officially on Monday and later announced the appointment of a new acting General Secretary and heads of departments.
However, Pinnick’s group claimed they have appealed against the ruling and were granted the stay of execution against their removal from office.
A source in the Ministry of Youth and Sports who would not want his name mentioned, told Daily Trust that the Minister, Solomon Dalung had not responded to the issue because he was yet to be served the court order as at the time of filing this report.
The source however said: "In trust, I can confide in you that he [Minister] has asked IG of Police to secure the football house to forestall crisis after intelligence report indicated that Giwa group may seize the house."
The Giwa faction who had vowed to resume today are yet to arrive at the ‘Glass House’ by the time this report was filed while likewise Pinnick-led group.
