A group, The Bridge Builders, has said the criteria for the selection of the next president should be competence and not zoning.
A communique signed by the Director-General of the group, Mr Courageo Michaels and five others said the country was at a crossroad and needed a president and other leaders that are detribalized and competent.

“Competence should be given precedence over rotation of political offices at elections in order to avoid the mistakes of our past.
“The country is at this critical moment of nationhood as all seems bleak, and therefore requires detribalised leaders with proven and verifiable antecedents like Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr Peter Obi.
“Based on their antecedents and successes recorded as Vice President, Governor, businessmen and elder statesmen, they have been able to prove their mettle as astute administrators,” the group said.
