New Ooni gets staff of office today

Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola will officially present the staff-of-office to the new Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi today after the successful completion of the coronation rites.
The Director, Bureau of Communications and Strategy in the Office of the Governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, told Daily Trust in Osogbo that Aregbesola would present the instruments of office to Oba Ogunwusi as statutorily required.
The older brother of the new Ooni, Prince Adegboyega Ogunwusi, told Daily Trust that the new Oba was in high spirit and was ready to ascend the throne with the presentation of the instrument of office.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, members of the National Assembly and other top political office holders including state governors as well as other eminent personalities across the country would attend the event.
There was heavy security presence in Ile-Ife at the time of filing this report while the officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission were also making efforts to ensure free flow of traffic in Ife.
Part of the federal government delegation arrived in Ile-Ife yesterday. A member of planning committee said the advance team of the president has also arrived.
