New Och’Idoma for coronation June 30

The coronation of a new paramount traditional ruler of the Idoma people in Benue State, Och’Idoma ‘V’, Dr John Elaigwu Odogbo, has been fixed for June 30.

The Odogbo emerged as the new royal father of the Idoma nation in December last year after his predecessor, Och’Idoma IV, Dr Elias Obekpa, embarked on a hunting expedition.

Chairman of the Central Planning Committee (CPC) for the coronation and Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development in the state; Chief Dennis Ekpe Ogbu, while inaugurating the committee for the event, expressed optimism that they would work assiduously as a team to deliver on their assignment within the stipulated period.

Ogbu charged the committee members to put in their utmost best to ensure the historic event comes up successfully and in a grand style.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor, Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ken Achabo, who is also a member of the committee, disclosed that the composition for membership was based on integrity and the pedigree of those selected.

He, however, informed that the committee has a limited time to work and must act fast to beat the deadline as the coronation is slated for June 30, 2022, in Otukpo, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
