New NDDC MD takes over

The Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Engr. Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, has pledged to change the story of the Niger Delta region by ensuring that the Commission delivers on its mandate.

Addressing the management and staff at the Commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, shortly after he assumed duties as the NDDC Chief Executive Officer, Audu-Ohwavborua said: “Time has come to change the story of the Niger Delta region and we must all be part of that new story.”

He observed that the challenges facing the staff of the Commission were enormous and assured them of providing leadership and support to ensure that they discharged their duties effectively.

He said further: “Standing on the path of righteousness is what I will bring to the table. Fortunately, NDDC has many professionals, including engineers and Ph.D. holders in various fields, and it is obvious that there is sufficient capacity in the workforce. What is required is the will to do things right.”

The new Chief Executive Officer noted that his mandate was to oversee the smooth running of the NDDC until a substantive board was cleared by the National Assembly to assume office. “I believe that if we work together, we can achieve the objectives for which the NDDC was set up,” he said.

Audu-Ohwavborua took over the leadership of the NDDC from the Interim Administrator, Dr Efiong Akwa, who was relieved of his duties on October 20, 2022.
