The new Acting Comptroller General (CG), Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Dr. Godwin Sunday Audu, has assumed office.
Dr Audu took over from Dr. Vincent Isegbe whose tenure expired in December 2023, according to a statement signed by the Head, Communications and Strategies, Dr Chigozie Nwodo Wednesday in Abuja.
The Acting CG emphasized the agency’s commitment to enhancing the export environment by expediting inspection and certification services, streamlining application processes, and automating quarantine procedures.
He said this initiative signifies a crucial step towards making the export process more efficient and reducing the processing time for agricultural export documentation.
It also aligns with the Presidential Enabling Environment Council’s efforts to facilitate a conducive business environment for exporters.
Dr. Audu pledged to optimize operations at interstate control stations to minimize delays in the transportation of agricultural commodities.
By collaborating with stakeholders, the agency aims to address and eliminate illegal operators causing bottlenecks on Federal highways, ensuring a smoother flow of agro-products across the country.
The new DG assured stakeholders of NAQS’ dedication to enhancing its service delivery in alignment with the Renewed Hope agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The NAQS in the statement said that the appointment of Dr Godwin Sunday Audu as the acting Comptroller General of NAQS marks a significant turning point, signalling a proactive approach towards facilitating a more efficient and favourable environment for Nigerian agro-exporters.
