New innovative strategies against terrorism, banditry ready – Army

Authorities of the Nigerian Army say innovative strategies to combat terrorism, banditry, secessionists, oil thieves and all other forms of violent extremism have been developed in different theatres of operations.

It also assured Nigerians that the land force is set to bolster its capabilities by integrating modern technology into its training and operations, adding that the steps would be capped with improved welfare of the personnel.

The Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, a Lieutenant-General, stated these in Abuja on Wednesday during the closing ceremony of the COAS Annual Conference.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has disclosed that the federal government has procured special drones “43 Berakta TB2 drones” for it in order to scale up operations in the Northwest zone of the country.

It also winged no fewer than 46 personnel trained in the operation and maintenance of the drones, adding that the equipment would be deployed in due time in to combat the threats facing the zone.

The Commander, Nigeria Army Space Command, Brig.-Gen. U.G Ogeleka disclosed this during the winging of 46 personnel shortly after the closing ceremony of 2024 COAS Conference, saying there will be no going back in decimating all the adversaries.
