Network to float e-commerce platform for women entrepreneurs

Association of Nigeria Women Business Network (ANWBN) said it would create an e-commerce platform for women in Nigeria and Africa to sell their goods and services.

Angela Ajala, national coordinator of the network comprising over 75 associations disclosed this in a chat with journalists at the 2024 annual summit tagged, “Future-Ready Entrepreneurs: Skill Up to Scale Up” held in Lagos.

She decried the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs including access to finance, multiple taxation, infrastructure, roads, power, insecurity.

She explained that the summit provided an avenue to train women on various skills required to upscale their businesses.

She said one of the measures aimed at boosting women entrepreneurs is the e-commerce platform to give visibility to their businesses.

She said, “So we’re now telling them this is the time to sell online so that you reduce your cost and there’s no way you can sell online if you are not visible and if your products are not excellent.

“So, we’re also launching an e-commerce platform for women, not only in Nigeria, but across Africa, where they can showcase what they do.

“And we’re not talking about women that are selling products alone, maybe garri, or whatever, which means if you’re very good at making hair, we want to showcase you on that platform to tell the world what you are doing.

“If you are good at writing CVs, if you are good at trading, consulting, coaching, whatever it is you’re good at, we want to be able to showcase you so that people can patronise you from wherever you are in the world.”
