The Bauchi State Public Health Media Network (BSPHMN), in collaboration with The Challenge Initiative (TCI), has honoured the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, as Champion of Child Birth Spacing and Reproductive Health.
The mornach was decorated at his palace when members of BSPHMN and officials of TCI visited him to seek for blessing and partnership to strengthen media enlightenment on health issues, especially on Coronavirus and Lassa fever.
Focal person of BSPHMN, Bulak Afsa, told the emir that he was honored for his outstanding role in leading the campaign on public health especially on women, children and sanitation in Bauchi.
“Your Royal Highness, investigation carried out by journalists in the state indicates that you are a perfect example of child birth spacing, therefore this decoration is in recognition of your fatherly role and leading by example,” she said.
She explained that the network is a team of journalists practicing in Bauchi, who agreed to come together to scale up enlightenment on child birth spacing and other health related issues.
Responding, the emir thanked the network for promoting unity, peace and disseminating relevant information towards achieving public health.
“I commend you for coming together to work in the state with mutual cooperation to disseminate information for the common good of the state.”
He charged them to take the lead in enlightenment campaign against the coronavirus and Lassa fever across the state and assured them that the traditional institution will partner with the network in enlightening the public on health and other social issues.
