The Nigeria Energy Support Programme (NESP) has said it will support SOSAI, a local environmental group to deploy gas-based stoves across 600 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in three States.
The Head of NESP, Mr Duke Benjamin, stated this in Abuja at a workshop on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) clean stove adoption.

He mentioned that NESP would provide technical assistance to SOSAI in deploying institutional LPG-based clean cookstoves for 600 MSME which will be done in three pilot states comprising Bauchi, Kaduna and Niger.
The Nigerian Institute Clean Cooking Acceleration Scheme (NICCAS) with support from the European Union (EU) and the German Government within the framework of NESP, through its awareness campaign, is promoting LPG usage in Nigeria.
This it said would combat the use of firewood and dirty cooking which is harmful to people as well as a huge contributor to global climate change.
The Director, Department of Climate Change at the Federal Ministry of Environment (FME), Mrs Iniobong Abiola-Awe, expressed the ministry’s commitment to implementing the federal government’s programme of converting 30 million households from using biomass fuels to LPG.
She said: “This intervention is a step in the right direction as it will ensure that our agro-processor groups and small businesses join the quest for a cleaner and healthier environment.
