The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has embarked on a training program for exporters in Kano State, aimed at boosting the country’s non-oil export sector.
The workshop, which opened on Thursday at the Kano State Library, is part of the NEPC’s “Operation Double Your Export” campaign, targeted at increasing Nigeria’s non-oil exports to improve foreign exchange earnings and drive economic growth and diversification.
In her keynote address, NEPC Executive Director Nonye Ayeni, who was represented by the Kano Regional Office Coordinator, Hajiya Amina Abdulmaleek, emphasised the importance of trade intelligence and information techniques in navigating the global market.
She urged exporters to take advantage of the training to enhance their knowledge and skills in using trade tools such as the Market Access Map and Trade Competitiveness Map.
“The role of non-oil export in Nigeria’s economic development cannot be overstressed,” she stated.
“With the active participation of Nigerian exporters, the future is bright, and Nigeria’s export potential can be realized,” she added.
On his part, the UBA Branch Manager in Kano, Sunusi Kabir, said the body would assist exporters in accessing funds while also providing business support.
The training is expected to empower exporters with the necessary skills and know-how to navigate the global market, increase their competitiveness, and expand Nigeria’s share in international trade.
Participants at the workshop include exporters, stakeholders, and officials from the public and private sectors.
