The Caretaker Committee is to rescue the party from its current leadership crisis, and organise a convention where a new leadership of the party would emerge from the Ward to the national stage.
2023 presidential candidate of LP, Peter Obi; his running mate, Datti Ahmed; Senator Victor Umeh; Lagos State governorship candidate of LP in 2023, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, were among the party bigwigs present at the meeting hosted by Gov. Alex Otti.
Abure has, however, dismissed the appointment of Nanedi Usman as interim chairperson to run the party’s affairs for a 90-day period.
Speaking through the National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, he described the appointment as illegal, unconstitutional, and an enterprise in futility, adding that the outcome of a validly conducted national convention held in Nnewi earlier this year still exist.
