NEMA launches operation ‘eagle eye’ in Niger

The officers would be deployed to the exit and entry points in the state as the operation

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has flagged-off operation safe Eid-Kabir in Niger State to control reckless driving on the road during the festive season.

Speaking at the flag-off in Minna, head of the state’s Operation Office, Hajia Zainab Sulaiman Saidu, the operation, tagged “eagle eye” included the deployment of personnel of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Red Cross and NEMA officials.

The officers would be deployed to the exit and entry points in the state as the operation, which commenced yesterday would last for five days, she said.

NEMA Head Search and Rescue Unit, Mr Hussaini Isah, said the operation was a standby mechanism to ensure that the agency was not taken unaware and able to save lives as an emergency responder.
