Speaking during the distribution, Senior Relief Officer, Relief and Rehabilitation Department of NEMA, Auwal Abubakar, said the gesture was made to ease the suffering of victims.
“It is government’s duty to provide protection and assistance for citizens and camps are established as a last resort. Here in Potiskum, most of the displaced persons are living with their relations and are being supported by family members, so there is no need for camps,” he said.
Abubakar, who said most of the beneficiaries were from Damaturu, Gujba, Gulani, said the exercise would be extended to displaced persons in Gashua, Fune and other parts of the state.
