NEMA distributes relief items to 300 flood victims

The federal government through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials worth millions of naira to 300 victims of the 2020 flood in Lagos State to mitigate the effect of the disaster.

The victims were displaced from their homes as a result of flood that submerged their areas during the 2020 rainy season.

A good number of the victims, who are landlords, have not been able to move into their properties as a result of the devastating effect on their properties.

South-West Zonal Public Relations Officer of NEMA, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, while distributing the items to the beneficiaries at Gbagada Youth Development Centre, said the victims were from two local government areas (Ikorodu and Kosofe) that were ravaged by flood disasters in 2020.

One of the beneficiaries who simply identified himself as Mr. Samuel, thanked the organisers for “such a timely project” while encouraging the residents to “make do with these materials provided for their betterment.”
