NEMA spoeksman, Manzo Ezekiel, in a statement yesterday, said though they were recruited, they were not sacked.
He said NEMA “nullified” the recruitment for non-adherence to “established procedures for recruitment into the public service.”
Ezekiel had earlier Daily Trust that he was unaware of the recruitment.
He said though approval was obtained from the NEMA Governing Council for recruitment in 2018, approvals from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development were not obtained.
“On the allegation that salaries of the said candidates were unpaid for one year, it must be clearly restated that NEMA does not pay salaries of Public Servants,” he added.
