Ekiti State First Lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, has commissioned neighbourhood markets across the 16 local government areas of the state as part of efforts to improve the socio-economic activities at the grassroots level.
Erelu Fayemi, while speaking at the commissioning ceremony, called on women and traders in the state to shun street trading and avoid its attendant risk to life.
According to her, proper utilisation of the markets will enhance commercial activities in the state. She said the market were in line with the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration’s vision to facilitate infrastructure and industrial development of the state.
“The project was conceived to give both small and medium scale business owners the opportunity to better their lots and enhance their living, as well as working standards,’’ she reiterated.
The First Lady, who performed the commissioning on behalf of Governor Fayemi, charged the local government chairmen to ensure that the market allocation was strictly on the basis of merit and devoid of any form of favouritism.
