A resident of Benue State has allegedly murdered a retired chief nurse, Mrs. Esther Amali and her housemaid, Mercy Mwuese Akuhe in their home along Naka Road Makurdi, the state capital.
Eyewitnesses said that the incident occurred on Sunday evening at the house of the deceased nurse behind Deeper Life Church at Federal Low-cost Estate on Naka Road in Makurdi.
Some of the residents also said that the alarm raised by the late Mrs. Amali who retired recently from the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Makurdi as chief nurse attracted them to the scene.
They claimed to have heard the deceased woman shouting the name of her killer and that of her housemaid as she begged him to spare them.
The witnesses said that by the time help got to the victims, the attacker whom the late nurse allegedly identified as a neighbour, Ibrahim, had fled the scene leaving the duo in a pool of blood and without hurting a five months old baby belonging to the housemaid.
The residents narrated to journalists that the suspected murderer may have gained entrance into the deceased’s house at about 4:20pm on Sunday, and first attacked the housemaid who was alone at home performing domestic chores.
Daily Trust learnt that the housemaid fingered a friend of the alleged killer, Ibrahim believed to be a cultist as responsible for her pregnancy and father of her child, an accusation, the suspect, Ibrahim was said to have warned her severally to desist from.
