The North East Development Commission has presented starter packs and certificates to 134 youths under its ICT training scheme in Yobe State.
The Managing Director of the commission, Mohammed Alkali, said the programme was meant to complement the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) of the present administration.

Alkali said NEDC beneficiaries went through basic training in computer graphics and cell phone repairs.
He stressed that the overall objective of the programme was also to improve access to IT resources within the zone and empower the population with necessary vocational education, skills and tools that can make them self-reliant.
“As part of the project, the commission initially embarked on resuscitation of the ICT entrepreneurship centre based in Gashua in the state and two others in Adamawa and Borno states for the purpose of training our youths,” he said.
Items donated included laptops, printers, phone repair gadgets and cash support of N20,000 to each of the 134 beneficiaries.
The commission equally donated COVID-19 preventive items and learning materials to schools in addition to agricultural inputs to farmers.
Yobe State governor, who was represented by the Secretary of the State Government, Baba Malam Wall, commended the federal government and the commission for investing into the post insurgency recovery drive of the state.
