The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has awarded contracts for the execution of 101 projects in Bauchi State.
The major projects include the newly constructed Soro Cattle Market; one of the largest livestock markets in the region, which was handed over to the Bauchi State Government in Soro village in Ganjuwa LGA.
The Managing Director (MD) of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, stated that the market was built to reduce congestion, prevent accidents and boost the livestock business in the region.
Yahaya Ahmed, Director of Operations at NEDC, emphasised that the projects would enhance revenue generation for the community, the government at all levels, and the entire region.

In another development, Mr Alkali summoned the contractor responsible for constructing structures at the National Obstetrics Fistula Centre in Ningi, Bauchi State, to explain delays in the project’s completion.
While inspecting the projects, Alkali reiterated the commission’s commitment to making the facilities operational as soon as possible.
He praised the management of the National Obstetrics Fistula Centre for their dedication to patients’ care and assured that NEDC would continue to support the centre to achieve its objectives.
