The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) will be deploying body cameras for its officers to enhance the integrity and safety of their strategic operations.
NDLEA’s Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig-Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), stated this during an event in Abuja on Wednesday where several officers were decorated with new ranks.
Marwa stated, “We will be deploying body cameras for the use of our officers on strategic operations to ensure their safety and the integrity of such operations.”
To further bolster the agency’s effectiveness, Marwa revealed that NDLEA was establishing five strategic commands in Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Apapa and Tin Can Island.
The agency also promoted 5,042 personnel, including two senior officers to the rank of Deputy Commander General of Narcotics (DCGN), 22 to Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN) and 66 to Commander of Narcotics (CN).
Marwa said the promotions followed rigorous examinations and interviews and assured of improved working conditions for personnel.
