NDLEA bursts methamphetamine manufacturing Lab in Anambra

The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has bursted a methamphetamine manufacturing laboratory in Awo/Oraifite, Ekwusigo  Local Goverment Area (LGA) of Anambra State.

The NDLEA, in a sting operation carried out on September 20, 2019, bursted into an uncompleted two-storey building used for the manufacturing of the drug in Awo/Orifite.

During the operation, NDLEA destroyed the laboratory used for the drug manufacturing and confiscated  295 grammes methamphetamine and others worth millions of Naira.

The NDLEA Commander, Momodu Sule, who spoke with Daily Trust said they carried out the sting operation after discrete information, which they processed before the raid.

Sule disclosed that the agency first lab test confirmed the drug as a methamphetamine and would soon do the second test, which would be carried out the presence of the suspect. He said the suspect would be charged to court for the law to take its course after the second test.

The commander, who said the principal suspect Nonso Chukwuyelum escaped arrested when the operative stormed the lab, added that they would soon track him.

He said the drug was capable of rendering people around the environment  useless with serious health issue.

Speaking to Daily Trust, the suspect’s  father, Mr Isiah Chukwuyelum, said he did not know that such a dangerous drug was being manufactured in the premises.
