The Jigawa State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested 64 suspects, among whom was a female, for being in possession of 17.55 kilograms of substances suspected to be illicit drugs.
The State Commander of the NDLEA, Josephine Obi, made the disclosure on Saturday in a statement made available to Journalists in Dutse, adding that, of the suspects, 61 were found to be end users while the rest were dealers.
Obi said that the command would subject the suspected users of the illicit drugs to counselling while the dealers would be arraigned.
According to her, the command had attained the feat by embarking on constant raids on the hideouts of the suspects across the 27 local government councils of the state, adding that the operation which began last month, was aimed at ensuring a crime free general elections.
“In the operation that began in January, 2019, we’ve so far dislodged many joints of illicit drugs. The state command has arrested 64 suspects, including a female. A
total of 17.55 kilograms of various drugs and substances were seized.
“Among the substances seized include: Cannabis Sativa, Tramadol, Exol, Dapsol, Diazepam, Codeine, Rubber Solution and Formalin, popularly known as “Suck and Die”.
