Operatives of the National Drug law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two women and two men who had been on its wanted list in connection with over 16,000kg (16 tonnes) of illicit drugs intercepted in Lagos, Abuja and The Netherlands.
Spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi, who disclosed this on Sunday, said that in Lagos, officers who had been on the trail of 48-year-old Aro Aderinde arrested him on Sunday, October 16, over his involvement in the export of 3,149kg of Indian hemp concealed in coconut fibres.

He further said, “In the same vein, two women: Hauwawu Bashiru and Basirat Adebisi Yahaya, linked to the attempt to export 90kg of methamphetamine through Pastor Anietie Okon Effiong of Promise of Zion Church, Oron, Akwa Ibom State, were arrested in Lagos and moved to Uyo to face charges along with the clergyman who was earlier arrested on Saturday, August 6.”
Meanwhile, a notorious drug dealer in the Mushin-Isolo axis of Lagos State, Monday Michael (45), was arrested on Monday, October 17, while conveying 365.7kg of Indian hemp in two Toyota Sienna buses.
Another drug lord, Abdulkadir Mohammed (47), wanted over the seizure of 5,640kg of Indian hemp at a warehouse in Chukuku area of Kuje, FCT, was nabbed on Sunday, October 16, following the arrest of his wife, Saadatu Abdullahi (35), who was found at the store when it was raided.
