NDLEA arrests 21 suspects, intercepts N6m hemp

The Tin-Can Island Special Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it arrested 21 suspects between January and June, 2024, with 14 standing trial at the Federal High Court, Lagos, and seven serving jail terms.

The command also seized Indian hemp, heroine, barcadin syrup with codeine and monetary exhibit of N6m during the same period.

Speaking in Lagos during an event to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Commander of Narcotics at the Tin-Can Island Port, Mohammed Abubakar, said the drugs were seized in containers which came from Durban, South Africa, and Montreal, Canada.
