The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) said it has trained 8,000 unemployed youths including displaced persons on skills acquisition to enable them become self-sufficient.
The Director General of the NDE, Dr. Nasir Mohammed, disclosed this at a one-day training on Capacity Building Orientation for the 2019 Rural Employment Promotion (REP) scheme.
Dr. Nasir Mohammed, who was represented by Acting State Coordinator, Engr. Uba Moses said that the federal government was passionate about the plight and wellbeing of Borno people.
“The essence of this program is for unemployed youth to become self reliant through acquisition of skills,so we have trained more than 8,000 people in different skills.”
He said the 144 beneficiaries would be provided with resettlement packages to enable them set up their businesses.
He said the exercise would provide job opportunities and enhance wealth creation in the society, adding that the agency would train additional youths in the state this year.
One of the beneficiaries Idris Alhaji Husseni thanked the NDE for the skills and start up pack and promised to utilize the opportunity and will promptly pay back the loan.
