National Directorate of Employment, NDE has commenced the training of 3,700 persons in the nationwide training on sustainable agricultural development scheme under the Rural Employment Promotion Department.
The Acting Director-General of NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo disclosed this on Tuesday during the orientation ceremony of the beneficiaries in Awka.

According to him, 100 participants were drawn from each of the 36 states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
Fikpo who was represented by a Director in NDE, Mr. Pascal Edene said the success of the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) led to the new scheme which will be replicated in the 36 states including the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja.
“The seven areas to acquire skills are on crop production, livestock management, micro-livestock management, food processing, preservation and storage, agro-services and farm mechanization.”
The State Coordinator, NDE, Mrs. Chika Ufelle said that the participants would also be trained on enterprise management, business plan preparation, value-enhancing life and skills and success attitudes.
Twenty-three-year-old participant, Peter Okafor said: “Based on the contemporary views on how the programme is organized, I am happy with the knowledge I have acquired so far.”
