NDE trains 1,000 women, youths in Kano

National Directorate of Employment in Kano has commenced training of 1, 000 unemployed women and youths in various trades under its Advanced and Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (NOAS).

The NDE’s state Coordinator in Kano, Alhaji Iliyasu Ahmed, who disclosed this during an orientation ceremony organised for the beneficiaries of the programme, said the beneficiaries were drawn from the 34 local government areas of the state.

Ahmed said the beneficiaries would be trained on cosmetology, GSM repairs, soap and pomade making among others skills, adding that, the training was designed to stimulate business initiatives of the target beneficiaries to enable them identify opportunities so that they could create wealth and enhance their socio-economic status.

“The training will provide an avenue for self-reliance in addition to providing the participants with the ability to put their potentials into practice and reduce the growing rate of unemployment among the youths,” he said.

Earlier, the NDE Director General, Mohammed Ladan said the training was in line with the present administration’s commitment towards addressing the trend of unemployment in the country.

He added that, the participants would be provided with a starter pack and a token amount to start their choosing businesses.
