NDE trains 100 unemployed youths in vocational skills

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has flagged off a week-long training for 50 youths on Post Sustainable Agricultural Development (POST-SADTS), a scheme under Rural Employment Promotion (REP) department.

In his welcome address, the Director General of NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said the programme was geared towards achieving improved livelihood for the unemployed youth, reducing rural and urban migration, providing raw materials for leather manufacturing industries as well as reducing poverty.

Fikpo, who was represented by the state NDE coordinator, Garba Hassan, stated that the scheme was designed considering the immense potentials inherent in the goat production business.

Earlier in his address, the head of department REP, Kano, Aliyu Muhammad Daurawa, said the small stock (Goat) production has the potential to positively affect the living standards of farming communities.

In another development, the NDE also commenced a five-day training for another 50 youths on Vocational and Technical Skills Development (VSD).

The NDE state coordinator, Malam Garba Hassan, said the objectives of the programmes would change the status of the beneficiaries to be productive and contribute positively to the economy of their communities and the country.

In his keynote address, Malam Mustapha Jibrin Yakasai who represented the VSD director in Abuja said the trainees would be exposed to tailoring, hairdressing, plumbing, catering services, electrical installation, and environmental beautification for hard and soft landscaping as well as Plaster of Paris (POP) ceiling.
