NDE gives N21m loans to beneficiaries in Benue, Borno

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has disbursed N20.8 million participants in its agribusiness engagement in Benue and Borno States.

In Benue, the Director – General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, at the flag-off ceremony of the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training (SADT) 2022 and the 40 per cent budget release for the loans empowerment schemes, said N10 million was disbursed to the 100 participants of the agribusiness engagement, which is N100,000 each.

He urged the fresh 100 SADTS trainees drawn from across the 23 local government areas of the state to abide by the rules of engagement during the one-month training.

Fikpo who was represented by Mrs Blessing Owan said: “The loan repayment plan is very flexible with a tenure of three years and a moratorium period of six months.”

The State Coordinator of NDE, Emmanuel Ugela, charged the participants to take the training seriously because it has the capacity to take them from unemployed persons to employers of labour.

In Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, NDE said under its Rural Employment Promotion, it has disbursed N100,000 each, totalling N10.8m to 108 youths and women who were trained through SADT and Agricultural Science to practice what they have learnt.

Fikpo, who was represented by the State Coordinator of NDE, Mairo Betara Aliyu, said: “The management of NDE has approved the loan packages of N100,000 each to 108 participants in four different schemes of agriculture.”

NDE also said it was also training 100 participants from the 27 LGAs of Borno State on agric systems.
