NDA invasion: A blaze from the sea

In the early hours of Tuesday, August 24, 2021, the one and only Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) confirmed the invasion of gunmen into staff quarters where two officers were killed, one abducted and some were injured.

There’s an adage in Hausa when something occurs to someone regarded as untouchable, they usually said; “Gobara daga kogi maganin ki Allah” which means that “a blaze from the sea only God Almighty can overcome it”.

Before the occurrence, many would argue that the Academy was the least likely for an attack by bandits. In fact, many would think it would be foolhardy for anyone to attempt such.

One is now left with the intriguing scenario of whether to underrate the security system of the NDA or to overrate the action of the bandits.

The question is: has the security situation in the country deteriorated to this level or there is a hidden conspiracy beyond the attack?

It is, therefore, important for the military to use this attack to demonstrate to the nation that it could handle the deteriorating security situation that pervades the country.
