Senators of the Northern region of the country Thursday charged the military to do everything within its capacity to rescue the kidnapped major from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) from the bandits’ den and further ensure security around the facilities as well as all other communities.
The Senators, under the auspices Northern Senators’ Forum (NSF), who stated this in a statement signed by their chairman and former governor of Sokoto State, Aliyu Wamakko, also commiserated with President Muhammadu Buhari, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, and other service chiefs.

Daily Trust had reported how armed men in the early hours of Tuesday penetrated the NDA barracks where they killed two military officers and abducted a major.
Reacting to the sad incident, the chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, expressed shock over the attack on the NDA, describing it as “heinous and unforgivable”.
The former Sokoto State governor said it was “devastating hearing about the outrageous attack which was brought to the fore, yet again, the nature of the problem we are dealing with”.
“It is sad that the precious lives of our well-trained officers were sniffed out in the unwarranted orgy of violence, not in the battlefront but right in their homes,” he said.a
