Comptroller General NCS, Dr. Bernard Nwadialor disclosed this at a two-day international stakeholders’ summit/master-class on the menace of counterfeiting and piracy on Nigeria’s economy, jointly organised by the NCS and UBA, which took place in Lagos on Wednesday.
The CG who was represented by ACG Nathaniel Ihenacho ACG Harvey Road Yaba, said that improper importation of intellectual property materials was under the absolute prohibition list.
He said the intellectual property rights abuses have now attracted international sanction, adding that the campaign must be pursued to its logical conclusion.
In his remarks, Professor Pat Utomi, presidential candidate in the 2007 presidential election said the future rested squarely on this because it was not sustainable to depend on oil alone.
Utomi stressed the need for multi-agency approach towards combating the menace of counterfeiting and piracy on Nigerian economy. He noted that to get agencies of the same government to collaborate had been a major problem.
