The National Commission for Nomadic Education (NCNE) has solicited support for two physically challenged but outstanding school pupils in Katsina State.
Head of social mobilisation and women development of the commission in North West, Dr Fidelis Ogochukwu, made the appeal on Wednesday during an assessment visit to Katsina.

Briefing the Executive Chairman, Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Lawal Daura, he said the visit was to assess the utilisation of curriculum for the nomadic schools.
“Our report observed that in one of the schools in Sabon Birni, in Mai’adua Local Government Area, we met one student, Abdulhadi and we were deeply impressed with his performance.
“He is physically challenged. Instead of using his hands to write, he is now using his legs. It attracted our attention to the extent we have reported him to our head office in Kaduna.
“We are appealing to the SUBEB to see how they can help in taking him to the hospital to find out the health challenges of the child to see if it can be improved,” Ogochukwu said.
He said during their visit to Sandamu LGA, the team also met a young girl of about 11 years old called Halima Bello in class five who was outstanding.
“Some of the questions we gave her can take her mates 45 minutes to answer, but she was able to answer in just 10 minutes. It shows how outstanding such a child is,” he added.
In his response, Daura said the administration of Governor Aminu Masari was giving more priority to the education sector in the state.
