NCF stages AGM, wants cricket among top 3 sports in Nigeria

The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday in Abuja, resolving to work towards making the game one of the top three sports in Nigeria.
Stakeholders at the meeting also resolved to improve the technical competence of all the national teams in the coming year.
Speaking with the media at the AGM, the President of the federation, Mr Uyi Akpata, gave a brief on the matters discussed during the meeting in areas relating to the five key strategic imperatives that will form the operational structure of the federation.
“Other areas we want to focus on are the technical competence around each of our teams across all levels, grassroots development where we want to reach over 250,000 new entrants into the sports annually, continue to improve our facilities and form strategic partnerships with the government and corporate bodies, institutions and alumni bodies, members of the press and more.
“All of these imperatives heads toward one direction, we want to be the top three sports in Nigeria and clearly number one when it comes to organisation,” Akpata said.
The NCF has resolved to continue to spread the game to the regions by supporting good initiatives and programs.
The AGM also vetted, ratified and approved the reviewed constitution and also approved the audited reports as of the year ended 31st December 2020.
Other activities include reappointment of the financial auditor for another year and presentation of board committees.
