The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has earmarked N2.2 million for Nigerian undergraduates who will partake in its 2024 essay competition organized by the board to boost promote academic excellence among undergraduates while fostering awareness of local content initiatives in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
According to the organizers, the participants can win substantial cash prizes such as N1,000,000 for first place, N700,000 for second, and N500,000 for third, as well as laptops for all top ten finalists during the competition.
The Project Consultant, Mr. Eyinimi Omorozi, who is the CEO of Mahogany 21 Century Concepts Limited, told newsmen in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital on Thursday that numerous students from various higher institutions across the country have registered to participate in the competition as the entry closes on October 14, 2024.
He said the 2024 NCDMB Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition which has officially commenced will be the eighth edition.

He said: “This prestigious competition, organized by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), aims to promote academic excellence among undergraduates while fostering awareness of local content initiatives in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
“The 2024 essay topic is “Nigerian Content and Opportunities in African Local Content Advancement,” specifically targeting students in their first or second year at Nigerian universities and polytechnics.”
