The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says there is need to facilitate local content development by promoting ICT innovation and technology entrepreneurship.
It said leveraging on the power of digital technology will position Nigeria for 21st century digital revolution.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta, made this known at the Emerging Technologies Research and ICT Innovation Forum in Nasarawa State.
Danbatta, who was represented by the Director New Media and Information Security department, NCC, Engr. Haru Alhassan, stated that the ICT Innovation Forum has become necessary to promote local content with emphasis on the tech ecosystem, identify ‘unmet’ needs and facilitate Public Private Partnership (PPP).
The NCC boss reiterated the commission’s commitment to assist the various tech hubs with the right intervention and support to ease operations.
Also speaking at the event, the Executive Commissioner, Technical Services NCC, Engr. Ubale Maska, who was represented by the Director, Technical Standards, Engr. Bako Wakil said, “ICT is continuously having an increasing transformational impact on our socio-economic lives as it is manifesting in the way we live, socialize, learn, trade and do business.”
