There is no proven study or research work that shows that Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) radiation has any effect on human health, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said.
NCC’s Head of Zonal Ms Helen Obi disclosed this during a Consumer Conversation programme held in Koton- Karfe, Kogi State.
Ms Obi who spoke with consumers said that, the misguided information on the effect of Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) radiation on human health is not accurate, “it does not causes any sickness”, she added.
She however noted that such false information should not be welcomed, stressing that indigenes should always cooperate with Telecom Service Providers.
Speaking further, Ms. Obi said that, The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC will not relent in carrying out sensitization programme which is part of the Commission’s 8-piont Agenda, noting that the Consumer Conversation forum is geared towards educating, informing and empowering people to ensure that they are well informed to make knowledgeable choices on the usage of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
Some of the topical issues discussed at the Conversation forum includes: Activation of the 2442”Do- Not-Disturb” (DND) service across all telecom networks. This service enables the Consumer to stop receiving unsolicited messages from Telecom Operators. The NCC Toll Free line, 622- this number can be used to report complaints pertaining to unresolved issues with service provider, other key issues discussed are, improve Quality of Service, Billing, SIM Swap, Data Subscription/Renewal.
