The Nigerian Communications Commission has created a digital economy department which will be responsible for implementing programmes and policies aimed at promoting the national digital economy agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The board of the commission approved the creation of the new department at its last meeting, a statement from NCC said on Tuesday.

The department is strategically and structurally placed under the Office of the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the NCC, the statement added.
Engr. Babagana Digima, an Assistant Director in the Special Duties Department, has been designated as the pioneer head of the department.
