The guideline for the operation of remotely piloted aircraft systems and unmanned aerial vehicles (RPAS/UAV) by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has taken effect.
The spokesman for NCAA, Mr. Sam Adurogboye, said with the regulations taking effect from October 19, it becomes illegal to operate a drone without being registered with NCAA.
“We have been working on the regulations for so long and it is a new thing, which the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) came up with and we (NCAA) are one of the first civil aviation agencies to come up with the regulations,” he said.
It was learnt that it has taken effect, implying that NCAA could shoot down any drone flying without authorisation and certification.
