The Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) and the Regional Sustainable Energy Centre of Excellence for Sub-Saharan Africa (RSECESSA), in partnership with Camhirst Robots, have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), to develop affordable houses in several states across the country, using 3dcp robots.
The signing ceremony was held at the NBRRI headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
Speaking, Founder/CEO of Camhirst Robots, Adam Ahmed, said the robots would be deployed in Nigeria, early 2024.
Ahmed said: “It took us five years and millions of dollars to get the technology right. The production of these robots is starting in November this year. We are excited that we will be deploying these robots in Nigeria, early 2024. As the months roll on, more robots will become available especially for the signed MOU on one million social housing.
“We will be working with partners. One of the most important things is that we are looking for more strategic partners. More collaborations, investors are welcome to come and partner with us because we believe this is not just going to be a profitable venture, because these robots are going to be supplied all over the world, but we are starting this in Nigeria. Building the structure of a house normally takes many weeks or many months. Our robot can build a small house in 48 to 72 hours, which is a game changer.”
Amb Dr Ibrahim Aminu, Executive Director/CEO of RSECESSA said: “The technology has worked in other countries, therefore it’s a welcome development as it will help in reducing the nation’s housing deficit.”
