NBA speaks on desecration of Holy Qur’an in Zamfara

The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA in Zamfara State has condemned, in strongest terms, the desecration of Holy Qur’an being perpetrated by some disgruntled elements in the state.

In a communique issued at the end of their executive committee emergency meeting, which was co-signed by the chairman Bello Idris Galadi esq and the secretary Muazu Shehu Ahmad esq, the Bar said the ugly incident was becoming too incessant.

Mutilated parts of Holy Qur’an were found in a public toilet at Farida General Hospital, Gusau.

Earlier, such mutilated parts were dumped in a public toilets in Government Day Secondary School, Sabon Gari, Gusau.

The acts, which are believed to have been masterminded by ritualists, illicited strong condemnations from public and calls for security operatives to apprehend those behind the ugly acts.

The Bar in the state said it condemned the acts in strongest terms and implore the security operatives to do every thing humanly possible to arrest the culprits and their agents for prosecution.

The NBA also expressed displeasure over the recent utterances by governor Abdulaziz Yari at a campaign rally in Talata Mafara local government area of the state that there would be no elections in the state if APC is excluded from participating in the forthcoming elections.

“We have set machineries in motion, including but not limited to petitioning all security agencies in the country and perhaps, the International Criminal Court, Hague, should the governor continues to behave the same way or does anything to suggest that he is poised to making the forthcoming elections in Zamfara state impossible,” the NBA said.
